Snap Specs have officially entered the market as standalone augmented reality glasses priced at $2,195. The company shared technical details during a launch event in Los Angeles, detailing the device hardware alongside an upcoming AI assistant called Specs Intelligence. According to reporting by Wired, the hardware operates independently without needing a tethered smartphone connection.

The glasses integrate displays directly into the lenses, enabling visual overlays across multiple software applications. Users can make phone calls using Bluetooth, stream music through Spotify, and watch video content from platforms such as YouTube and Max. Additionally, shopping integrations allow consumers to inspect 3D models before making purchases via Shopify.

Hardware Features of Snap Specs

The physical design of Snap Specs features outward-facing cameras paired with an external LED light indicator that illuminates whenever photo or video capture is active. Snap confirmed that the system does not use facial recognition technology to track individuals in the surrounding environment. The standalone wearable includes integrated audio speakers capable of real-time language translation alongside text transcripts displayed directly in the user field of view.

In addition to consumer media tools, the device includes interactive sports experiences developed with the NBA and WNBA for basketball drills. Wearers can access similar training overlays for soccer and golf. Multiplayer digital tabletop games such as chess and ping pong are also supported when interacting with another headset user in the same physical space.

Enterprise Deployments and Software Integrations

Beyond consumer functions, Snap is deploying the glasses for commercial environments through software partnerships with Salesforce, Amazon, and NVIDIA. These corporate integrations bring up technical specifications, warehouse inventory data, or equipment diagrams into worker viewports. Furthermore, public demonstrations begin October 1 at the Westfield Century City shopping center in Los Angeles prior to hardware shipments later this fall.

AI Capabilities via Specs Intelligence

Alongside the hardware launch, Snap introduced Specs Intelligence, a companion artificial intelligence service available on iOS, macOS, and the wearable itself. This software operates across distinct lifestyle categories like work, family, and personal goals by connecting to calendars and productivity tools. Consequently, the application assists users with travel reservations and daily planning without requiring constant manual input.
