Organizations adopting secure networking can significantly strengthen enterprise defense while modernizing infrastructure, according to findings from Cisco announced in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Cisco IT revealed that its global Wi-Fi 7 rollout helped achieve up to a 40 percent drop in reported security incidents across multiple operational sites.
Impact of Wi-Fi 7 Upgrades
Modern network upgrades provide substantial performance improvements alongside measurable defense gains. As companies expand their digital footprints, treating connectivity and data protection as a unified architecture delivers clear operational results. In addition, the deployment demonstrates that upgrading to high-speed wireless standards directly supports stronger defensive postures within telecommunications environments.
“Our Wi-Fi 7 deployment showed that network modernization can deliver security benefits alongside better connectivity and performance. Modernizing the network is an opportunity to rethink how security is built into the enterprise. By bringing networking and security together, organizations can strengthen zero trust, improve segmentation, and build protection directly into the network. Combining Wi-Fi 7 with zero trust, segmentation, and integrated security controls enables organizations to strengthen protection while keeping the experience simple for users and IT teams.”

Core Pillars of Secure Networking
The global deployment highlighted three main operational areas that reinforce enterprise protection during infrastructure modernization. Cisco emphasizes that incorporating protection directly into hardware elements such as routers, switches, and access points prevents attack vectors from exploiting wireless gaps. Consequently, this secure networking strategy removes the operational friction of managing protection as an isolated administrative layer.
Zero Trust and Network Segmentation
Zero trust verification begins directly at the connection stage through Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 (WPA3). Once devices establish a connection, ISE works alongside Duo multi-factor authentication and Cisco Secure Access to enable passwordless entry based on risk-aware policies. This approach extends protective controls into the network itself rather than limiting them to standalone applications in cybersecurity systems.
Furthermore, dynamic segmentation isolates connected endpoints into dedicated network segments. If an individual endpoint experiences a breach, automated policies prevent lateral movement across the broader corporate infrastructure. These controls adjust automatically depending on the specific device connecting to the network.
Preserving User Experience
Cisco IT confirmed that tightening protective measures did not degrade day-to-day employee operations. Workers reported faster connectivity speeds, passwordless authentication access, and frictionless segmentation across corporate offices. As a result, businesses participating in the regional economy can modernise core assets without disrupting ongoing workplace productivity.
By prioritizing secure networking from the initial design phase, organizations establish sustainable digital infrastructure ready for future enterprise demands.
