{"id":12084,"date":"2019-09-07T06:29:13","date_gmt":"2019-09-07T03:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/?p=12084"},"modified":"2026-03-27T18:32:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T15:32:49","slug":"milrem-robotics-themis-ugv-passes-air-transportability-tests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/milrem-robotics-themis-ugv-passes-air-transportability-tests\/","title":{"rendered":"Milrem Robotics\u2019 THeMIS UGV passes air transportability tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) by Milrem Robotics, the leading European UGV manufacturer and developer of robotic warfare solutions, passes air transportability tests that adds one more option for it to be deployed to operation areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most common question about THeMIS size class unmanned ground vehicles is how do you get them to where you need to use them,\u201d explained Kuldar V\u00e4\u00e4rsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics. \u201cWe have tackled this question during development of the newest \u2013 fifth generation THeMIS &#8211; and added a number of options: towing, hauling, following a convoy autonomously and now airlifting,\u201d V\u00e4\u00e4rsi added.<\/p>\n<p>The air transportability tests were conducted according to NATO standard STANAG 3542 and was facilitated by the helicopter crew of the Estonian Police and Border Guard.<\/p>\n<p>The THeMIS is a multipurpose tracked vehicle that can be equipped with other warfighting technology such as weapon systems, tethered drones, IED detection devices and much more. It can carry a payload of up to 1200kg, move 25 km\/h and pull other equipment with a force of 21 000 N.<\/p>\n<p>The THeMIS can be remotely operated via cameras or using autonomous functions such as waypoint navigation, follow-me etc. The intention is to keep soldiers safe, increase their capabilities and in addition lighten their load.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the systems modularity it has become a very popular choice for different payload integrations and Milrem Robotics has already integrated a dozen different systems with industry partners like Kongsberg, FN Herstal, MBDA, ST Engineering etc.<\/p>\n<p>Please have a look at the THeMIS\u2019 air transportability tests here &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cts.businesswire.com\/ct\/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2Ft6Gf7tBf0qw&amp;esheet=52087121&amp;newsitemid=20190903005432&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2Ft6Gf7tBf0qw&amp;index=1&amp;md5=3eda18c276d58d98d5631ee0c36e5c6c\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/t6Gf7tBf0qw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The THeMIS will be exhibited at DSEI in London from September 10 to 13 and can be found in the following locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>At the Estonian Pavilion (N3-320)\u00a0<\/strong>where we will be unveiling the fifth generation THeMIS UGV.
