{"id":20250,"date":"2021-02-17T12:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-17T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/?p=20250"},"modified":"2026-03-27T20:29:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T17:29:49","slug":"waed-raises-investment-in-hazen-ai-whose-innovations-make-driving-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/waed-raises-investment-in-hazen-ai-whose-innovations-make-driving-safe\/","title":{"rendered":"Wa\u2019ed raises investment in Hazen.ai, whose innovations make driving safe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\">\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>February 17, 2021<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8212;&nbsp;Hazen.ai, a maker of intelligent traffic systems that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to improve road safety, has received a follow-on investment from Wa\u2019ed, the entrepreneurship arm of Aramco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company this year won a global award from the International Road Federation for its traffic management systems, which combine the latest in machine learning, AI and computer vision technologies to spot and report negative driving behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hazen.ai said it planned to use the new funding injection, its second since 2019 from Wa\u2019ed\u2019s venture capital arm, Wa\u2019ed Ventures, to engage new global customers as its initial projects mature and go into deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This second round of financing from Wa\u2019ed will enable Hazen.ai to bring its life-saving technology to more regions around the world,&#8221; said Sohaib Khan, Chief Executive and Co-Founder. &#8220;As a Saudi start-up, we are grateful for the continued support from Aramco&#8217;s entrepreneurship arm, which is helping bring Saudi solutions like Hazen.ai\u2019s to a global audience.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year, about 1.35 million people die globally in traffic accidents, according to the World Health Organization. That is the equivalent of one person every 24 seconds. The company\u2019s software is being used to improve the effectiveness of traffic systems in the UK, the United States, Oman, Egypt, Spain and Peru. Hazen.ai is also bidding on projects in Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2018, Hazen.ai\u2019s software won a Product Innovation Award at Gulf Traffic 2018, a regional traffic management gathering in Dubai.
