To show the changes, Ford has created a video with the driver\u2019s view from a dozen vehicles, from the Model T to the Mustang Mach-E, and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The evolution of the driver\u2019s view\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nADFgzrE2WU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is on the back of multiple innovations through years of development and refinement that we have arrived at today\u2019s state-of-the-art interiors, as shown in the video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>House windows were used in cars initially \u2013 and only offered as an extra<\/li><li>Curved windscreens led to the development of air-conditioning \u2013 as windscreens could no longer be opened<\/li><li>When first made available, radios initially amounted to 20 per cent of the vehicle\u2019s value<\/li><li>Post-war dashboards were influenced by the space race, with more dials, switches and gauges, as technology became increasingly a key part of people\u2019s lives<\/li><li>The advent of video games and the use of hand-held gaming controls influenced steering wheel design, with buttons placed within easy reach of the driver\u2019s thumbs<\/li><li>Today\u2019s interiors are increasingly made of more durable materials, able to better withstand contact with products such as hand sanitiser, sun lotion and insect repellent<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To better understand the younger generation of digital natives and anticipate future trends, Ford embarked last year on a unique project: co-creating\u00a0a\u00a0virtual gaming race car in collaboration with gamers. Together with the toned-down color palette, this reduces distraction so the driver can focus on the race.
