{"id":24973,"date":"2021-05-23T10:56:14","date_gmt":"2021-05-23T07:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/?p=24973"},"modified":"2026-03-27T22:27:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T19:27:14","slug":"twitter-relaunches-verification-process-with-new-approach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/twitter-relaunches-verification-process-with-new-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter relaunches verification process with new approach"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Updated verification policy shaped by public feedback in Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>23 May 2021, Riyadh, KSA<\/strong>: Twitter has announced that, as of today, it will be rolling out its new verification application process, and reviewing public applications for verification on Twitter. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest milestone in Twitter\u2019s plans to provide greater transparency, credibility, and clarity to verification on Twitter, the announcement follows the development and launch of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2020\/our-plans-to-relaunch-verification-and-whats-next.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">po<\/a>licy shaped by public feedback in Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. The policy is being rolled out across the platform with the automatic removal of the verified badge from accounts that no longer meet the updated criteria for verification, such as those that are inactive or incomplete.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What it means to be verified on Twitter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The blue badge is one way Twitter helps people distinguish the authenticity of accounts of high public interest. It gives people on Twitter more context about who they\u2019re having conversations with so they can determine if it\u2019s trustworthy, which our research has shown leads to healthier, more informed conversations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With today\u2019s application launch, Twitter is also introducing new guidelines for verified accounts. These verification guidelines are intended to encourage healthy conversations for the betterment of the Twitter community overall. They follow the philosophy to lead by example, Tweet others how they want to be Tweeted, and serve the public conversation authentically, respectfully, and with consideration. As always, all accounts, including verified accounts, must follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/rules-and-policies\/twitter-rules\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter Rules<\/a>. And as previously shared, verified accounts that repeatedly violate the Twitter Rules are subject to have the blue badge removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=24981 cssclass=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who\u2019s eligible?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To qualify for verification, people must fit the criteria of one of the six categories listed below.:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Government<\/li><li>Companies, brands and organizations<\/li><li>News organizations and journalists<\/li><li>Entertainment<\/li><li>Sports and gaming<\/li><li>Activists, organizers, and other influential individuals<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the category-specific eligibility criteria outlined in the new <a href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/managing-your-account\/about-twitter-verified-accounts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">verification policy<\/a>, accounts must be complete, meaning they have a profile name, a profile image, a confirmed email address, and a phone number. Accounts must also be active within the last six months and record adherence to the Twitter Rules.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How can you apply to get verified?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the next few weeks, everyone on Twitter will start to see the new verification application directly in the Account Settings tab. If the update can\u2019t be seen immediately today, don\u2019t worry! Twitter is gradually rolling it out to everyone to ensure that applications can be reviewed in a timely manner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s what the application flow will look like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together-1024x576.png\" alt=\"pastedGraphic.png\" class=\"wp-image-24975\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together-1080x608.png 1080w, https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Verification-application-frames-together.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once an application has been submitted, an emailed response will be shared within 1\u20134 weeks, either confirming verification or flagging that the application didn\u2019t meet the verification criteria. If an application is approved, the blue badge will automatically be added to the profile. If an applicant thinks Twitter has made a mistake, reapply 30 days after receiving the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What\u2019s next<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Twitter knows that the current verification policy may not represent all of the people who should be eligible to be verified on Twitter, so it is planning to introduce more categories later this year, such as scientists, academics, and religious leaders. To stay up-to-date with verification, be sure to follow <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/verified\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@Verified<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Twitter is also excited to continue expanding the ways people can express themselves on Twitter through their profile and launching new account types. Since its <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2020\/our-plans-to-relaunch-verification-and-whats-next.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last up<\/a>date, Twitter has been doing ongoing research on automated accounts with plans to introduce this account type in the next few months, with memorialized accounts to follow.
