{"id":26114,"date":"2021-07-01T11:47:47","date_gmt":"2021-07-01T08:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/?p=26114"},"modified":"2026-03-27T22:45:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T19:45:58","slug":"oracle-commits-to-powering-its-global-operations-with-renewable-energy-by-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saudishopper.com.sa\/en\/oracle-commits-to-powering-its-global-operations-with-renewable-energy-by-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Oracle Commits to Powering Its Global Operations with Renewable Energy by 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Al Riyadh, Saudi Arabia \u2014June 29, 2021<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Oracle expanded its commitment to sustainability by pledging to power its global operations, both its facilities and its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/cloud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cloud<\/a>, with 100% renewable energy by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRelying on renewable energy is an important step toward a more sustainable future,\u201d said Oracle Chief Executive Officer Safra Catz. \u201cOracle will always make its biggest impact on the environment by providing customers with technology that enables them to reduce their carbon footprint, but this new goal reflects the shared values of our customers, partners and investors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oracle\u2019s latest renewable energy goal builds on its existing sustainability priorities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Clean cloud:<\/strong>&nbsp;Oracle maintains its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy use at all next-generation Oracle Cloud regions by 2025.<\/li><li><strong>Hardware recycling:<\/strong>&nbsp;Continuing its efforts to reduce e-waste, in FY20, Oracle collected 2.5 million pounds of retired hardware assets, of which 99.6% was either reused or recycled.<\/li><li><strong>Reducing waste:<\/strong>&nbsp;Oracle has decreased the amount of waste sent to landfill at Oracle-owned buildings by 25% on a square foot basis since 2015.<\/li><li><strong>Responsible sourcing:<\/strong>&nbsp;By 2025, Oracle\u2019s expects 100% of its key suppliers to have an environmental program in place.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oracle\u2019s European&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/cloud\/architecture-and-regions\/\">Cloud regions<\/a>&nbsp;are already powered with 100% renewable energy, and Oracle has 51 offices around the world using 100% renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRenewable energy is critical to tackling climate change and helping us move to a cleaner, greener future,\u201d said UK Business &amp; Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng. \u201cOracle\u2019s ambitious pledge today will ensure it is going further and faster to reach a sustainable future, and inspiring other businesses around the world to be more environmentally-friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTelenor Group recently set science-based targets to reduce our own emissions by 57% by 2030, and work with our suppliers in order to also reduce our supply chain emissions.
