This virtual esports event will provide a golden opportunity for mobile gamers in the Middle East and North Africa region to shine by showing their skills and winning the grand prize of USD $30,000.

Notably, AppGallery Gamers Cup is the first-ever mobile esports event organised by any app marketplace and will take place every quarter. The grand prize, every quarter, will be divided among the top three gamers. The winner will be rewarded with $15,000, the runner up will receive a prize of $10,000, and the second-runner up will be given a prize of $5,000.

Highlighting the importance of such gaming events, Adam Xiao, MD of Huawei Mobile Services for the Middle East and Africa, said, “In recent years, mobile gaming has seen a significant rise in popularity among gamers, especially the battle royale games like Garena Free Fire, which have glued users to their mobile screens. Through our AppGallery platform, we want to celebrate the talent of mobile gamers, and therefore, we have organised this first-of-its-kind gaming with many more to come in the future.”

Garena Free Fire is the last person standing battle royale game that has gained immense popularity among mobile gamers in recent years. The game has been downloaded more than 1 billion times on Android devices alone, becoming the first mobile battle royale game to achieve this milestone. The game combines the thrill of a battle royale with the skill of survival techniques to make the gameplay unique, challenging and entertaining at the same time.

Garena Free Fire and many other epic games and useful apps are available to download for free on Huawei’s AppGallery, one of the top three app marketplaces globally. The key feature that makes AppGallery more versatile than the competition is its user base of 560 million monthly active users spread across 170 countries. Not only is it available on Huawei devices, but Android users can also benefit from a wide range of international and regional applications across 18 categories.

AppGallery Gamers Cup will be held virtually from 8th December till 28th December.
