A new <\/strong>Kaspersky Safe Kids study<\/strong><\/a> has revealed the most viewed children\u2019s interests in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia between March and May 2022. Popular events such as the Oscars were trending and there were also some changes in the gaming segment, including the growing popularity of the creepy \u2018Backrooms\u2019 game. In the music field, all fame got PSY for the track \u2018That That\u2019, released in collaboration with BTS star SUGA. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This past spring has been full of popular events. The Oscars made headlines<\/a>, many trending songs were released, and the creepy game ‘The Backrooms’ made a comeback<\/a>. Children have been closely following all these events, which have influenced their interests. <\/strong>Kaspersky analyzed anonymized data voluntarily provided by Kaspersky Safe Kids users, such as search queries, the most popular Android applications and website categories requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for popular events, Will Smith\u2019s infamous\u00a0Oscars\u2019 slap<\/a>\u00a0globally captured kids\u2019 attentions and was widely discussed throughout the spring. In addition to this, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce trial, and speculation about the Spiderman celebrity couple, Zendaya and Tom Holland, were trending pop-culture topics. Unexpectedly, children were also frequently searched\u00a0UwU<\/a>, which is an emoticon depicting a cute face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gaming section also saw some slight changes over the spring. One interesting case is The Backroom<\/a>s game, which has become popular among children in recent months. It is a creepypasta (referring to horror related content on the internet) that puts the player in an endless maze of randomly generated office rooms. It includes several levels that gamers must explore. In addition, the game, ‘Among US’ has been trending downwards for the past few months, with kids losing almost all interest in it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music is also one of the most popular categories on YouTube. Among the top leaders was a new music video, \u2018That That\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0by PSY, produced with and featuring BTS star, SUGA. Another popular newcomer was \u2018We Don’t Talk About Bruno (From “Encanto”)\u2019.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of movies and cartoons, a lot of children\u2019s YouTube requests were devoted to the channel,\u00a0My Story Animated<\/a>. This channel animates stories, claimed to be real, sent to them by teenagers. For movies the leaders were\u00a0\u2018The Bad Guys\u2019<\/a>, \u2018Sonic the Hedgehog 2\u2019<\/a>, \u2018Rock Dog 2\u2019<\/a>\u00a0and \u2018Heartstopper<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This spring children in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were interested in the software, audio and video (43.1%); Video Games (17.4%); and e-commerce (16.3%) web categories. The most popular apps on Android included YouTube (37.8%), Roblox (14.6%) and TikTok (8.6%). For Windows programs, in first place, was Microsoft’s browser, Microsoft Edge (16.2%), Google Chrome managed to get (13.2%); and in third place was Roblox, with a share of (8.5%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children’s passions change rapidly and for parents to better understand their little ones and build close relationships with them, it can be useful to explore their interests and hobbies together.
