This problem is even more sensitive for the Middle East, Turkiye, Africa (META) region, with 43% of companies understaffed. Most understaffing can be found among Malware analysts and Information security researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the frequency and complexity of attacks&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/go.kaspersky.com\/rs\/802-IJN-240\/images\/IT%20Security%20Economics%202022_report.pdf\">increase<\/a>, and the demand for InfoSec professionals in business grows, the number of practitioners meeting the company\u2019s requirements for skills and level of expertise is declining.&nbsp;Studies carried out by cybersecurity companies and international organizations have already highlighted the lack of InfoSec professionals. Research conducted by&nbsp;(ISC)<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;cybersecurity workforce study&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/media.isc2.org\/-\/media\/Project\/ISC2\/Main\/Media\/documents\/research\/ISC2_Cybersecurity_Workforce_Study_2023.pdf?rev=28b46de71ce24e6ab7705f6e3da8637e\">revealed<\/a>&nbsp;that the workforce gap was almost of 4 million InfoSec workers in 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking at cybersecurity needs across industries, the government sector reported the highest demand for cybersecurity practitioners, and admitted that nearly half (46%) of the Infosec roles it required remain unfilled. The telecom and media sectors are understaffed by 39% followed by retail &amp; wholesale and healthcare with 37% of its roles remaining vacant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo reduce the shortage of qualified InfoSec professionals, companies offer high salaries, better working conditions and bonus packages, while also investing in up-to-date training with the latest knowledge. However, the research results show that these measures are not always enough. The growth rate of the domestic IT market in some developing regions is changing so rapidly, the labor market cannot manage to educate and train the appropriate specialists with the necessary skills and expertise in such tight deadlines.&nbsp;On the contrary, regions with developed economies and matured businesses do not report such an acute shortfall of InfoSec professionals as their rates are below market average,\u201d comments Vladimir Dashchenko, Security evangelist, ICS CERT, Kaspersky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To minimize negative consequences of global cybersecurity staff shortfall, Kaspersky experts recommend the following:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adopt managed security services such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kas.pr\/mx66\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaspersky Managed Detection and Response (MDR<\/a>)\u00a0or\/and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kas.pr\/mx66\">Incident Response<\/a>\u00a0to get additional expertise without additional hiring. It helps to protect against cyberattacks and investigate incidents even if company lacks security workers.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Invest in additional cybersecurity courses for your staff to keep them up to date with the latest knowledge. With\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kas.pr\/99tr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaspersky Expert training<\/a>, InfoSec professionals can advance their hard skills and be able to defend their companies against attacks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use interactive simulators to test your own expertise and assess the way you think in critical situations. For instance, with the new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kas.pr\/hq4m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaspersky interactive ransomware game<\/a>\u00a0you can observe the way the company\u2019s IT department deploys, investigates and responds to an attack and makes vital decisions with the game\u2019s main character.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use centralized and automated solutions such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kas.pr\/z49p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaspersky Extended Detection and Response (XDR)<\/a>\u00a0to reduce the burden on the IT security team and minimize the possibility of making mistakes.
