This represents part of the $10.1 trillion business opportunity available if nature-positive solutions are adopted across the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Massive Environmental Impact Threatens Tech Growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and quantum computing has created a substantial environmental footprint. Over <strong>1 trillion chips<\/strong> are sold annually, powering smartphones, cars, and televisions, while more than 11,000 data centres operate globally with demand expected to rise 19-22% annually through 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scale of resource consumption is staggering: semiconductor manufacturing alone uses over 1 trillion litres of water annually, global data centres consume more than 60 gigawatts of power\u2014exceeding California&#8217;s peak electricity demand\u2014and hardware production generates more than 60 billion kilogrammes of e-waste yearly, with less than 25% currently recycled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where Tech Sector Sustainability Value Will Come From<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <em>Nature Positive: Role of the Technology Sector<\/em> report, developed with Oliver Wyman, identifies where the $800 billion opportunity lies.
