Gamma Studios has opened a new virtual production facility at Dubai Production City to support regional filmmakers and technical crews with direct access to cinema hardware.

The site, named the Digital Media Centre, combines equipment, operating workflows, and on-site instruction into a single operational hub. Technical support and workflow guidance are managed in collaboration with Sony Middle East and Africa.

Inside the New Virtual Production Facility

The setup is built around three operational layers: core hardware, connected workflows, and practical knowledge transfer. A dedicated training center operates inside the building to instruct crew members on live equipment setups.

A primary feature of the site is the Sony 360 Solution for Virtual Production. The installation includes a Sony VERONA LED wall with a 1.5mm pixel pitch, which represents the largest installation of this display type globally and the first 1.5mm pitch VERONA screen in the Middle East.

Hardware Integration and Camera Systems

Production teams can test camera packages directly against the LED volume. Supported systems include VENICE 2 and BURANO digital cinema cameras, the OCELLUS tracking setup, the Virtual Production Tool Set, and the FR7 remote camera.

“The demand for virtual production is accelerating, driven by international productions choosing the UAE on the strength of its rebate structures, and we anticipated this shift early. It is what led us to expand into virtual production. Our objective was to invest in the best for our facility, and after evaluating the market, Sony’s virtual production solution stood out for its technology and its complete end-to-end workflow.”

Regional Production Capabilities

The space includes dedicated zones for pre-production planning, technical demonstrations, and practical workflow validation. An on-site service center provides direct quality control and maintenance support for active productions.

“The launch of Digital Media Centre represents an important step in Sony’s continued investment in the region’s creative ecosystem. By providing professionals as well as aspiring creators with a dedicated space to explore our latest technologies and solutions, as well as a practical environment for production, workshops, and hands-on workflow exploration, it will allow professionals to build their understanding of the technology and assess how virtual production can support their own projects.”

Support for the Creative Economy

The facility serves commercial projects, feature films, and regional broadcast teams seeking local testing environments. In addition, specialized training programs will run regularly to build technical operating skills across local crews.

Industry professionals can schedule technical demonstrations, workshop sessions, and studio bookings to evaluate production setups directly within the virtual production facility as part of the wider creative economy initiatives in the region.
