Apple is developing a new lineup of smart home devices in collaboration with LG, according to reporting by TechCrunch based on details from Bloomberg. The upcoming product line includes connected doorbells, smart locks, thermostats, and security cameras designed to expand Apple’s presence in residential technology.

The newly developed hardware will carry LG branding despite joint engineering by both technology firms. This arrangement allows Apple to broaden its footprint in domestic automation while relying on LG manufacturing infrastructure for consumer appliances and connected hardware.

Expanding Options for Smart Home Devices

The joint project includes several dedicated appliances for home security and climate control. Among the products in development are a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, and an updated thermostat, all designed to integrate directly with Apple software platforms.

In addition to entry management tools, the companies are preparing indoor security cameras, outdoor units, and a specialized floodlight camera. These products aim to offer direct alternatives to competing hardware sold by smart devices makers such as Amazon.

Integration With Central Control Hub

The appliances are built to connect with Apple’s rumored central controller, which reportedly features a 6-inch square screen. Users will be able to mount the display on a wall or place it on a countertop to manage connected rooms.

Reports indicate the hub will utilize Siri and artificial intelligence features to process voice commands and automate routines. The central display is expected to make its debut during an event scheduled for October 13.

Connectivity Standards and Wireless Protocols

The planned accessories will support universal connectivity standards, including Matter and Thread protocols. This technical foundation ensures stable communication across different hardware brands while aligning with an overhaul of Apple’s HomeKit platform.

Furthermore, the smart deadbolt lock includes ultra-wideband technology. This feature enables doors to unlock automatically as an authorized user approaches with their compatible mobile devices, removing the need for physical keys or manual app inputs.

Hardware Launch Expectations

Industry reports suggest that several LG-branded products could be previewed alongside the new display hub in mid-October. Apple may also use the event window to introduce updated versions of the HomePod mini and Apple TV.

By collaborating with an established electronics maker, Apple aims to deliver a complete selection of smart home devices without managing every hardware production line in-house.
