Knowledge Economic City has signed an agreement with TGP International to develop and operate the new Multaqa AlMadinah Food Hall in Madinah. The agreement was finalized during the Retail Congress MENA 2026 event in Dubai, where the master developer participated as a sponsor. The project will introduce a mix of local, regional, and international food and beverage concepts into the shopping destination.
Strategic Expansion in Madinah Retail
The planned venue forms a central component of Multaqa AlMadinah, which is situated inside the 6.8 million square meter master plan of Knowledge Economic City. The broader urban development combines residential units, hospitality keys, retail outlets, educational institutions, and recreational facilities. Furthermore, the development directly supports regional tourism growth goals.
Knowledge Economic City is listed on the Saudi Exchange and operates under the regulatory oversight of the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority. It is positioned near the Prophet’s Mosque, the Haramain High-Speed Rail station, and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport.
Development Scope for Multaqa AlMadinah Food Hall
Under the signed agreement, TGP International will lead the planning and ongoing operations for the project. Abdulrahman Zolaly, Mall Manager at Knowledge Economic City, and Ryan Waddell, Head of Operations at TGP International, formalized the contract.
TGP International will oversee food and beverage master planning, interior design, brand curation, and daily operational management for the Multaqa AlMadinah Food Hall. The hospitality agency previously delivered hospitality projects across Saudi Arabia and the region, including Al Mamlaka Social Dining in Riyadh and Msheireb Food Hall in Doha.
Executive Perspectives on the Partnership
Executive leadership highlighted the operational direction of the mixed-use development within the local economy.
“The Food Hall is an important addition to the experience we are creating at Multaqa AlMadinah. Our ambition is to build a destination that goes beyond traditional retail by bringing together dining, hospitality, leisure and social experiences that respond to the needs of both Madinah’s residents and its visitors.”
Dr Moath Al-Yahya, CEO of Knowledge Economic City
“Multaqa AlMadinah is being developed as a major integrated destination, bringing together hospitality, retail, residential and recreational experiences. The Food Hall has an important role to play within this wider ecosystem by creating a distinctive social and culinary anchor at its heart.”
Simon Wright, Founder & Chairman of TGP International
Hospitality Targets and Project Outlook
The broader master plan includes expanding hotel capacity to serve pilgrims and travelers. Knowledge Economic City plans to deliver more than 10,000 hospitality keys by 2029, with a long-term projection of approximately 42,000 keys across full project development. As footfall increases across these hospitality assets, the Multaqa AlMadinah Food Hall is intended to serve as a dining hub for both residents and visitors.
