The OMODA 7 SHS-H has demonstrated a new hybrid electric vehicle system featuring a 5-kWh battery during tests in China. Automobile manufacturer OMODA & JAECOO presented the technology at the OMODA Super Hybrid Marathon, which ended on 22 October 2026. The trials assessed vehicle operation across city streets, highways, and mountain roads without requiring external plug-in charging.

Battery Capacity and Driving Refinement

The newly developed 5-kWh battery pack provides extended electrical support to the primary powertrain during everyday operation. Consequently, the setup operates a dedicated Super Quiet Mode that reduces vibration and engine noise during stop-and-go driving conditions. The system also supplies steady electric motor assistance at highway speeds to create a smooth driving experience.

In addition, the increased battery capacity broadens the functional scope of conventional hybrid vehicles beyond basic fuel conservation. Automotive engineers focused on utilizing stored electricity to improve cabin quietness across varying road conditions. According to the manufacturer, the mechanical arrangement delivers operational characteristics similar to fully electric models while maintaining fuel-based refueling convenience in modern automotive transport.

“Soon we’ll be the world’s first to deliver the new 5-kWh HEV technology. It’s the world’s only HEV with V2L function and supports multiple smart lifestyle modes.”

Onboard Power Capabilities and Cabin Modes

Under the Super Life concept, the OMODA 7 SHS-H integrates four intelligent operational settings to support passenger comfort. These settings include Rest Mode, Sentry Mode, Refresh Mode, and Appointment Mode. Rest Mode configures the cabin for temporary breaks, while Sentry Mode monitors the surroundings while the vehicle remains stationary.

Moreover, the vehicle includes vehicle-to-load functionality that delivers up to 2.2 kW of electrical output. Drivers can connect compatible smart devices, portable coffee appliances, or laptop computers directly to the onboard power supply. This electrical capability allows occupants to complete remote office tasks or manage leisure activities while parked.

Intelligent Mobility and Technological Development

The hybrid engineering programme forms part of a wider technological initiative within the company. This initiative incorporates Super Intelligent Valet Parking alongside interactive cockpit installations supported by AI algorithms. Furthermore, a partnership with AiMOGA Robotics extends the brand’s automated technologies into companion and service applications outside the automotive industry.

UAE Launch Schedule for OMODA 7 SHS-H

Scheduled to arrive in the United Arab Emirates in early 2027, the OMODA 7 SHS-H is among the initial models to adopt this configuration. The planned debut follows the local release of the O5 HEV model in September 2026. Cumulative regional sales across the United Arab Emirates have passed 6,000 units, led primarily by the JAECOO J7 sport utility vehicle.

Local motorists commuting between urban centers and regional highways will gain hybrid operation without relying on charging cables. Meanwhile, the onboard power outlets offer practical utility for roadside stops, connecting the global development program directly with daily driving requirements in the Gulf region.
