The updated Apple Health app introduces analytical tools powered by Apple Intelligence to calculate health age and readiness scores. The software update is currently accessible to registered developers in the iOS 27.2 beta 1 release, according to reporting by 9to5Mac.
Core Features in the Apple Health app
The redesigned interface centers on two primary sections named Insights and Longevity. The Insights tab aggregates immediate biological data, providing daily summaries and activity recommendations. Meanwhile, the Longevity tab evaluates long-term physiological trends across sleep cycles, heart metrics, and physical movement on paired mobile devices.
A central feature within the Longevity section is Health Age. This metric compares historical biological data against chronological age using metrics such as VO2 max, sleep quality, and blood biomarkers.
Movement Assessments and Intelligence Integration
The platform uses vision-based machine learning models on the iPhone alongside Apple Watch sensors to evaluate mobility. Specifically, these automated assessments measure user strength, balance, and flexibility to assist older adults or individuals recovering from physical injuries. Users can also view animated movement guides directly on screen during testing sessions.
Furthermore, the system integrates with artificial intelligence processing to deliver personalized guidance. For instance, the software can suggest structured interval training during morning running routines to build cardiovascular endurance based on recent activity data.
Diagnostic Partnerships and Testing Panels
Apple partnered with diagnostic provider Quest to introduce direct laboratory test integration. Users can purchase a 50-biomarker lab panel for $119 directly through the service to import certified clinical data into their longitudinal records. As a result, users receive health tracking that connects wearable metrics with certified lab work in the health technology sector.
Hardware Compatibility and Release Schedule
Access to these advanced analytical features requires specific hardware capable of supporting on-device machine learning models. Users must operate an iPhone 15 Pro or later model paired with a compatible Apple Watch, with device language settings set to US English. Consequently, older iPhone models will not display the updated analytical modules during the initial rollout phase.
Although the redesigned Apple Health app is active in developer beta builds, Apple stated that public deployment will occur later this year rather than with the final iOS 27.2 release.
