LG Electronics and Apple have introduced seven new smart home accessories designed for connected residential setups. The lineup includes indoor and outdoor security cameras, a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, a smart thermostat, and an auxiliary temperature sensor. Both companies co-developed the hardware and software systems to ensure direct interoperability across residential spaces.

Collaboration on smart home accessories

The engineering teams from both technology firms collaborated from the initial planning stages rather than creating simple software bridges. Consequently, the resulting smart home accessories function within shared residential scenes and automation schedules. For instance, activating a morning scene through Siri or the Apple Home application adjusts climate settings while simultaneously repositioning camera lenses.

“Creating a truly connected home requires products that work seamlessly together. By bringing LG’s expertise in home appliances and the home environment together with the Apple Home, we are creating intuitive, integrated experiences that fit naturally into customers’ daily lives.”

Moreover, user privacy operates as a structural priority across the product ecosystem. Personal information and recorded video feeds benefit from cybersecurity protections through end-to-end encryption in the Apple Home architecture, preventing unauthorized access from external parties or the manufacturers themselves.

“Apple has always focused on making products and experiences that are seamless and intuitive, and protect our users’ privacy — and that matters more than ever in the home. Combining our hardware and software expertise with LG’s deep understanding of the home and connected living lets us build smart home experiences that are simpler to set up, are easier to control, and work effortlessly.”

Specifications for indoor and outdoor cameras

The hardware catalog features optical monitoring devices equipped with video capture resolutions reaching 2.5K. Specifically, the indoor plug-in camera delivers a 160-degree field of view alongside a physical privacy shutter mechanism. Meanwhile, the outdoor plug-in unit incorporates low-light color night vision to maintain image clarity during evening hours.

In addition, LG designed an outdoor floodlight camera that combines perimeter illumination with automated surveillance. Onboard visual processing detects people, vehicles, domestic animals, and motion triggers. This intelligent filtering helps reduce erroneous notifications, while integrated local storage allows residents to retain and review footage independently.

Entryway control with doorbell and deadbolt

The wired video doorbell utilizes a dual-camera layout with a 2.5K upper lens and a secondary Full HD downward lens. This setup captures visitors and delivered packages simultaneously, triggering notifications through connected HomePod devices. Two-way audio communication enables verbal interaction with visitors outside the residence.

Furthermore, access management expands through the smart deadbolt lock, which incorporates Ultra-Wideband technology. Users can unlock entry doors hands-free using compatible mobile devices such as an iPhone or Apple Watch. The unit also supports numerical PIN codes, physical backup keys, and near-field communication taps.

Energy management and climate systems

Climate regulation relies on the smart thermostat and paired temperature sensors communicating over Matter and Thread protocols. This standard provides responsive wireless control with minimal operational latency. The system adjusts heating and cooling schedules based on occupancy states, sleep routines, or departures.

According to LG, United States and Canadian distribution begins in December, followed by additional rollouts early next year. Select camera models and doorbells will arrive in the United Kingdom during the same initial launch window, accessible via dedicated apps from both brands.
