Anthropics Technology has launched PortraitPro 27, introducing an upgraded processing system designed to accelerate photo retouching across Windows and macOS platforms. The London-based developer rebuilt the application around a new engine to reduce processing times for individual and multi-subject portraits. In addition, the software includes integrated graphics hardware acceleration and an updated workspace layout within modern apps and software environments.

New Processing Architecture and Speed

The updated release handles facial recognition, noise removal, and masking through newly tuned neural network models. According to the development team, PortraitPro 27 operates on an overhauled architecture that speeds up face detection across half-length, full-length, and group portraits. Furthermore, rendering times for complex enhancements update faster when applying manual adjustments across different image layers.

Unlike generative platforms that rely on text prompts and recurring credit fees, the software uses local artificial intelligence to detect anatomical features automatically. Photographers retain precise slider control over facial geometry, skin textures, lighting, eyes, and hair. As a result, edits update in real time without requiring additional rendering payments for each adjustment.

“Photographers already know the look they want. They shouldn’t have to type it out, wait, and pay again every time the machine guesses wrong. PortraitPro 27 uses AI to do the heavy lifting faster than ever, but the photographer stays in charge of every decision. And once you’ve bought it, it’s yours.”

Built In Graphics Acceleration

Hardware acceleration is now standard within the core application rather than requiring separate software installations. On Windows machines, the program detects compatible graphics cards automatically to handle processing tasks across standard computing hardware components. If a dedicated graphics card is unavailable, the software falls back to standard central processors without interrupting workflow. Meanwhile, macOS versions use Apple Core ML frameworks to generate skin, hair, and background masks.

Workspace Redesign and Group Editing

The interface includes a consolidated tool strip that groups core editing functions into a single panel. Users can access Touch Up, Restore, Crop, Clone, Remove Noise, Replace Sky, Art Effects, and the Lighting Brush from one location. Moreover, dedicated Before and After buttons replace older interface tabs to maximize image viewing space. Sliders and functional buttons display their numerical values and labels continuously during use.

For group photography, a dedicated faces strip displays every detected subject in the active frame simultaneously. Editors can alternate between individuals with a single click during active sessions. Additionally, faces that receive no modifications bypass unnecessary recalculations, which reduces waiting times when refining group compositions.

Editions and Availability of PortraitPro 27

Photographers can purchase PortraitPro 27 across Standard, Studio, and Studio Max editions as a perpetual software license. The entry Standard tier retails for $79.95, £59.95, or €64.95 as a one-time purchase. Existing license holders can also access discounted upgrade paths directly from the publisher.

The advanced Studio and Studio Max packages provide camera RAW and DNG compatibility alongside integration with Adobe Photoshop as a Smart Filter. These professional tiers also operate as external editors for Lightroom. In addition, Studio Max includes an automated batch processing engine suited for high-volume commercial shoots.
