Actor Robert Downey Jr. has officially joined the hardware venture to develop SPECS AR glasses as the honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer. In this role, Downey Jr. will guide consumers to understand the capabilities of the see-through augmented reality eyewear. The glasses function as a wearable computer controlled directly through hand gestures and voice commands.

Downey Jr. will collaborate across multiple divisions of the organization to explore technical capabilities, design new Lens experiences, and create original content. In addition, the actor plans to contribute directly to hardware design and in-person consumer events. The corporate announcement highlights plans to test wearable computing across work, education, entertainment, and specialized industries.

Expanding Capabilities for SPECS AR Glasses

The company designed the wearable system to merge digital content with physical spaces for daily communication and productivity tasks. Downey Jr. noted that practical applications extend beyond basic computing into collaborative family activities and technical workplace settings. The venture aims to show practical utility across engineering, medicine, and manufacturing sectors over time.

“Trying is believing. Having tested practically every wearable tech that’s come to market in the last 20 years, and been largely unimpressed, I was absolutely sold on SPECS within 40 seconds. The applications are endless. Families can share experiences instead of hunching over devices, skills can be honed, big business can streamline development.”
