Saudi digital payment company BARQ has closed its BARQ Series A funding round, securing $329.5 million at an enterprise valuation of $1.85 billion. The capital injection positions the payments platform among the fastest growing financial technology enterprises in the Middle East, according to reporting by Asharq Al-Awsat.

Details of the BARQ Series A Investment

The funding round attracted participation from several major regional institutions. Investors include Noon Investments, Sohar International Bank, and the M20 Fund. Consequently, the transaction underscores institutional interest in expanding digital payment infrastructures within the Gulf region.

The completion of the BARQ Series A round establishes the firm as one of the fastest companies in the region to achieve a billion dollar valuation. Moreover, the valuation places the enterprise among the fastest growing fintech companies globally based on timeline from launch to unicorn status.

Key Growth Metrics and User Base

During its initial two years of operations, BARQ expanded its user base past 15 million registered accounts representing more than 210 nationalities. This expansion coincided with the introduction of diverse financial tools across its digital network, supporting broader apps adoption among consumers.

In addition, total processed transaction volume on the platform exceeded 440 billion Saudi riyals, which equals approximately 117.3 billion dollars. This metric demonstrates substantial commercial activity and high transaction velocity across its consumer payment services.

Plans for Capital Deployment

Through the capital raised in the BARQ Series A, the firm plans to enhance operational efficiency across all business units. Specifically, management will allocate funds toward accelerating product development, creating new technical tools, and upgrading financial service systems.

Furthermore, the company intends to expand into new regional and international markets. The expansion strategy focuses on delivering simplified digital transaction workflows to a wider global audience, strengthening cross-border payment rails.

Fintech Expansion in Saudi Arabia

The investment arrives during a period of sustained progress in the local financial sector, driven by modernization programs under Saudi Vision 2030. In particular, regulatory initiatives led by the Saudi Central Bank continue to promote electronic payment adoption and structural modernization in the national economy.

As cash transactions decline, digital platforms have scaled operations quickly to serve growing consumer demand. The transaction reflects an ongoing transition from rapid startup growth to operating a broad digital payments network backed by strong institutional funding.
