Advanced water treatment technologies are entering a new phase of domestic industrial development in Saudi Arabia following an agreement between Green Electrodes Consortium for Industry Ltd. and Spanish firm E-Watts. The formal signing establishes a framework to localize industrial applications across the Kingdom.

The announcement took place on the sidelines of the 25th World Petroleum Congress held in Riyadh. During the gathering, Miquel Blasi Roma, Chairman of the Board of Directors of E-Watts, confirmed that the Spanish company selected Saudi Arabia as the regional headquarters for its operations across the Gulf and the Middle East.

Testing and Efficiency of Water Treatment Technologies

During his congress address, Blasi Roma shared performance metrics regarding E-Watts’ proprietary EDP system. Operational assessments conducted during July 2026 at the WTIIRA Institute in Jubail confirmed the system successfully treated seawater sourced from the Arabian Gulf. Furthermore, company evaluations indicate this technology can reduce capital expenditure by up to 45% while adhering to environmental sustainability requirements.

These operational savings offer significant advantages for regional industrial utilities. Consequently, the commercial deployment supports ongoing national programs in the broader economy.

Expansion Plans in the Eastern Province

Green Electrodes Consortium plans to construct dedicated industrial facilities in the Eastern Province. This location places technical operations close to heavy manufacturing hubs and regional infrastructure networks.

“Saudi Vision 2030 has been the compass guiding our investments and partnerships. The incentives and initiatives launched by the Saudi government have encouraged us to establish these companies and attract global technology partners. The Kingdom’s industrial development reflects the impact of this vision in building national capabilities and enhancing their competitiveness. It also gives us the confidence to continue localizing promising technologies and translating them into domestic industrial activities that strengthen local content and create skilled employment opportunities for Saudi talent. We intend to establish the company’s facilities in the Eastern Province to support the localization of these technologies, bring their applications closer to the industries they serve, and develop a local industrial base capable of serving markets across Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, and the Middle East.”

Workforce Training and Technical Deployment

Executing the project requires direct knowledge transfer and specialized technical instruction. Green Electrodes Consortium confirmed plans to recruit and prepare domestic specialists through structured education programs.

“We are working to translate this partnership into practical steps, including developing the company’s facilities, recruiting and training Saudi talent, and transferring technical knowledge in cooperation with our partners. Our aim is to build local operational capabilities that deliver advanced water treatment solutions and meet the needs of industrial sectors.”

Industrial Capabilities and Regional Growth

The partnership reflects a broader corporate strategy focused on attracting global processes to Saudi soil. In addition, commercializing tested water treatment technologies provides long-term supply certainty for vital industrial sectors across the region.
