The Islamic Development Bank Institute delivered specialized Islamic finance training to personnel from the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli. The initiative provided technical coursework to more than 60 senior bank officials during October 2026. In addition, the sessions concluded after nearly three weeks of intensive operational study.
Scope of the Islamic finance training
The joint undertaking ran from 4 to 22 October 2026 in the Libyan capital. Furthermore, the instructional calendar comprised three separate specialized courses tailored to central banking operations. Senior professionals participated in the Islamic finance training sessions conducted over nearly three weeks.
Organizers structured the coursework around specific administrative challenges faced by regulatory authorities. Consequently, the sessions examined practical mechanisms for modernizing public monetary practices. The Central Bank of Libya coordinated directly with instructors from Jeddah to align curriculum goals.
Core Focus Areas and Curriculum
Instruction focused on three core subject tracks throughout the teaching schedule. Specifically, the first track reviewed Shari’ah-compliant monetary policy tools designed for central bank authorities. Participants evaluated regulatory benchmarks applied across international Islamic banking institutions.
Moreover, the second instructional module addressed liquidity management mechanisms in the banking system. Central bankers reviewed practical methods for maintaining institutional stability and capital preservation. Meanwhile, the third track concentrated on treasury management procedures in central banks.
Institutional Capacity Building
The program operated through funding from an Islamic Development Bank Technical Assistance Project. Specifically, the initiative seeks to develop the Islamic financial services industry in Libya. The technical grant aims to reinforce stability while the Islamic finance training provides operational frameworks for staff.
In addition, the project works to strengthen institutional capabilities across the nation’s broader financial sector. Senior professionals examined regulatory controls that support transparent fiscal management. As a result, participating officials acquired practical methodologies for daily regulatory duties.
Support for the Libyan Banking Sector
The collaboration reflects continuing technical engagement between the Islamic Development Bank Institute and Libyan authorities. Notably, the Jeddah-based institute provided technical advisory resources to structure each program. The sessions concluded following the completion of all three modules on 22 October 2026.
Consequently, the Central Bank of Libya concluded the instruction for the 60 participating senior staff members. Both institutions completed the delivery phase in Tripoli according to the project schedule. The initiative represents an operational step in updating Libyan central bank regulatory practice.
