Aramco and the Public Investment Fund have completed the HUMAIN transaction, finalizing an agreement where Aramco secures a 49% ownership stake in the enterprise. The Public Investment Fund retains a 51% controlling interest. As part of the arrangement, Aramco will contribute approximately SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash during 2026, alongside key digital and compute assets.
Structure of the HUMAIN transaction
The agreement between the two entities integrates computing infrastructure, operational capabilities, and technical staff into the business. Furthermore, the capital infusion supports plans to scale digital operations and serve growing commercial requirements across regional and international markets. The arrangement also creates avenues for Aramco to commercialize existing digital properties through new industrial use cases.
Infrastructure Goals and Data Center Deployment
Launched in May 2025, HUMAIN is developing full-stack computing infrastructure across multiple operational tiers. Specifically, the company aims to deploy 3 gigawatts of data center capacity by 2030 to supply high-performance computing resources. In addition to physical facilities, the platform maintains advanced systems such as ALLaM, a multimodal Arabic large language model designed for complex workloads.
“Bringing PIF and Aramco’s AI portfolio of investments together under HUMAIN creates a powerful synergy that fuels talent growth, technological advancement, and intellectual property creation.”
Yazeed A. Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF
Strategic Integration with Industrial Energy Operations
The initiative aligns with broader efforts within Saudi Arabia to expand technical capabilities across public and private organizations. Since 2023, Aramco has generated $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value, attributing a substantial share of that total to automated computing solutions. Consequently, deploying these systems at scale is expected to assist operations throughout the oil and gas sectors.
“This partnership with PIF strengthens Aramco’s position as a global technology leader and AI powerhouse, while laying the foundation for localizing the AI industry and enabling faster, more integrated, and scalable deployment of AI systems.”
Amin H. Nasser, Aramco President & CEO
Long-Term Economic and Compute Outlook
Through the finalized HUMAIN transaction, both organizations plan to broaden technical capabilities across enterprise operations and public infrastructure. The initiative supports the Public Investment Fund 2026-2030 strategy, which targets enterprise expansion in key industrial segments. Meanwhile, continuous investments in local cloud platforms will help supply computing capacity to meet regional software demand over the coming decade.
