Saudi Arabia Maintains Cybersecurity Leadership

According to the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, Saudi Arabia retained its position as the top-ranked nation globally in cybersecurity for 2025. The ranking reflects the Kingdom’s progress toward Vision 2030 digital economy goals.

A 2024 cybersecurity awareness survey conducted by Sophos found that 59% of organizations in Saudi Arabia use AI tools to enhance cybersecurity capabilities. Additionally, 70% of organizations with over 500 employees allocate 13% or more of their IT budgets to cybersecurity, compared with 66% of smaller organizations allocating less than 10%.

Focus on Identity-Driven Threats at Black Hat MEA

At the event, Sophos will demonstrate its recently launched ITDR solution, which monitors identity risks, misconfigurations, and dark-web-exposed credentials. The company states that the technology enables faster response to identity-driven attacks, which have become increasingly prevalent.

The cybersecurity company will also showcase the integration of Secureworks’ Taegis XDR and MDR with next-generation SIEM capabilities within its Sophos Central platform. According to the company, this integration provides unified detection, response, and analytics capabilities.

“Saudi Arabia is advancing in cybersecurity powered by the ambition of Vision 2030,” said Harish Chib, Vice President Emerging Markets, Middle East & Africa at Sophos. “Black Hat MEA gives us an opportunity to demonstrate how our MDR/XDR solutions and detection technologies are helping organizations stay ahead of threats.”

Preparedness Varies by Organization Size

The survey findings indicate that larger organizations demonstrate stronger cybersecurity preparedness. Specifically, 89% of organizations with over 500 employees have formal ransomware response plans in place. These organizations also invest more heavily in local data compliance requirements.

Sophos will join Starlink at Stand H1.Q20, where technical experts will deliver demonstrations on building 24/7 defense systems and integrating AI into MDR and XDR for threat triage and hunting.
