Chery Auto will showcase the FREELANDER 8 at the upcoming 2026 Chery International User Summit held at its global headquarters in Wuhu, China. The presentation follows the vehicle’s initial brand debut in Abu Dhabi on September 29, 2026, where the United Arab Emirates was confirmed as the brand’s first international market.
FREELANDER 8 Design and Cockpit Features
The vehicle reflects a collaboration between Jaguar Land Rover and Chery, uniting British exterior styling with Chinese intelligent cabin technology. Furthermore, the design incorporates classic exterior cues including interlocking headlights and an elevated driving position for improved visibility.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard houses a 46.3-inch 8K Mini LED display screen. In addition, the vehicle integrates a Qualcomm SA8295P processor to control digital interfaces and manage connected services. Level 2 plus driver assistance comes standard, offering drivers more than 30 separate safety functions.
Hybrid Powertrain and Driving Capabilities
The vehicle utilizes a dedicated 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine coupled with dual electric motors for all-wheel drive performance. Moreover, a dual-chamber air suspension system works alongside the mechanical setup to absorb rough ground impacts across varied driving environments.
Energy storage relies on a 34.12 kilowatt-hour battery that provides 110 kilometers of all-electric travel. Consequently, total driving range reaches 886 kilometers on a full tank and charge, supported by an intelligent drive selector offering nine terrain modes in this new automotive release.
Driver Assistance and Autonomous Systems
Selected regional markets will receive Super Intelligent Valet Parking capabilities. Specifically, this feature permits autonomous parking maneuvers and remote vehicle summoning in compatible facilities under driver supervision. Advanced computing and sensor networks manage these functions efficiently.
Beyond standard vehicle tech, Chery will demonstrate Mornine at the summit. The humanoid robot, created by Chery International under its AiMOGA line, uses specialized AI software to interact with attending global delegates.
Regional Distribution and Market Presence
Commercial distribution across the UAE is managed through exclusive dealer partnerships with Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors. These dealer agreements support retail distribution and customer service facilities throughout the Emirates as sales operations commence.
