The expansion of Korea Saudi AI cooperation marked a significant shift during the 2026 Korea-Saudi Business Investment Forum held in Seoul. Co-hosted by the Federation of Korean Industries and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the event brought together around 280 business leaders to establish partnerships beyond traditional construction and energy projects.
Focus on Sovereign AI and Data Infrastructure
During the forum sessions, Naver Cloud presented initiatives designed to support digital sovereignty in Saudi Arabia. The company outlined projects involving digital twins, map-based super apps, cloud platforms, and data center developments, according to reporting by Konsulteer.
Korean technology providers are targeting long-term local deployment opportunities rather than conventional supply contracts. Consequently, sovereign AI infrastructure forms a central pillar in the joint digital roadmap.
Expanding Korea Saudi AI Cooperation Across Strategic Sectors
The bilateral discussions centered on transforming direct contracting into joint investment, local manufacturing, and shared technology development. Officials highlighted four main industry tracks, including smart infrastructure, media and healthcare, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.
“Economic cooperation between our two countries should move beyond the conventional order and contract model, developing into a two-way partnership connected by joint investment, local production, and technology collaboration.”
Kim Chang-beom, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries
Delegates from more than 20 Saudi firms, including CEER and stc, met with approximately 90 Korean corporate representatives. POSCO E&C and Hyundai Rotem presented plans for urban development and transportation systems, integrating digital tools directly with physical infrastructure.
Aerospace and Manufacturing Initiatives
In addition to software platforms, Korea Aerospace Industries presented its portfolio of aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and satellites. The manufacturer proposed a joint development and local assembly framework with Saudi industrial partners.
Moreover, South Korea’s Trade Ministry noted that ongoing trade talks and the planned Korea-GCC Free Trade Agreement will support bilateral supply chains. This industrial alignment strengthens Korea Saudi AI cooperation across both physical and digital manufacturing sectors.
Long-Term Outlook for Bilateral Investment
The shift toward high-tech partnerships directly supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by building domestic technical capabilities. As both nations formalize these initiatives, future collaboration will focus on operational deployment, localized research facilities, and capital investment.
