LG Electronics has unveiled the LG CLOiD home robot at CES 2026, marking a significant milestone in the company’s vision for a “Zero Labor Home” where artificial intelligence and robotics handle everyday household chores. The AI-powered robot represents LG’s most advanced integration of Physical AI technology into home automation, combining sophisticated vision systems, articulated manipulation, and seamless connectivity with the ThinQ smart home ecosystem.

Revolutionary Physical AI Technology Powers Home Automation

At the core of the LG CLOiD home robot lies groundbreaking Physical AI technology that combines Vision Language Model (VLM) and Vision Language Action (VLA) capabilities. These systems have been trained on tens of thousands of hours of household task data, enabling the robot to recognize appliances, interpret user intent, and execute context-appropriate actions. During demonstrations at CES 2026, the robot showcased its ability to retrieve milk from refrigerators, place croissants in ovens for breakfast preparation, and manage complete laundry cycles including folding and stacking garments.

The robot’s hardware design reflects careful consideration for real-world home environments. LG CLOiD features a head unit functioning as a mobile AI home hub, a torso with two articulated arms offering seven degrees of freedom each, and a wheeled base equipped with autonomous navigation technology. Each hand includes five independently actuated fingers for precise manipulation of household objects. The wheeled base, derived from LG’s experience with robot vacuums and the LG Q9 Self-Driving AI Home Hub, provides stability with a low center of gravity that reduces tipping risks around children and pets.

Seamless Integration with ThinQ Smart Home Ecosystem

The LG CLOiD home robot’s capabilities expand significantly through integration with LG’s ThinQ AI Home Platform and ThinQ ON Hub. This connectivity allows the robot to orchestrate services across LG’s various appliances, learning living environments and lifestyle patterns to provide personalized automation. The head unit serves as the robot’s brain, equipped with advanced chipsets, displays, speakers, cameras, sensors, and voice-based generative AI that enable natural communication through spoken language and facial expressions.

Alongside the home robot, LG introduced LG Actuator AXIUM, a new brand of robotic actuators for service robots. These actuators serve as robotic joints, integrating motors, drives, and reducers to control movement with precision. LG’s expertise in component technology from its market-leading home appliance business provides competitive advantages in lightweight design, high efficiency, and high torque capabilities. The modular design enables customized, multi-variety production necessary for manufacturing advanced robots requiring dozens of actuator types.

“The LG CLOiD home robot is designed to naturally engage with and understand the humans it serves, providing an optimized level of household help. We will continue our relentless efforts to achieve our Zero Labor Home vision, making housework a thing of the past so that customers can spend more time on the things that really matter.”

Roadmap Toward AI-Driven Smart Homes

LG plans to continue developing home robots with practical functions while expanding robotics technology applications to home appliances. The company envisions creating categories such as “Appliance Robots” like robot vacuums and “Robotized Appliances” including refrigerators with automatically opening doors. The ultimate goal is establishing an AI Home where housework is entrusted to AI appliances and home robots, allowing people to focus on more valuable activities.

Visitors to CES 2026, taking place January 6-9 in Las Vegas, can experience the LG CLOiD home robot and Zero Labor Home concept through various real-life scenarios at LG’s booth #15004 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The demonstrations showcase the tangible benefits of combining advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and smart home integration to transform daily household management.
