Mastercard and Trip.com have announced a partnership to introduce agentic commerce solutions for the global travel sector. The collaboration integrates Mastercard’s Agent Suite for Merchants with Trip.com’s artificial intelligence assistant, TripGenie, allowing travelers to search, select, and purchase travel options through autonomous digital interactions.

Supported by Network International, the initiative uses advanced fintech frameworks to let consumers complete authorized transactions inside existing merchant channels. The system enables users to discover travel itineraries and secure tickets without navigating multiple checkout pages.

Expanding Agentic Commerce Across Digital Platforms

The integration of agentic commerce allows travel merchants to maintain direct control over their branding while offering automated shopping journeys. Consumers are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence tools to evaluate options, plan itineraries, and purchase services efficiently.

Mastercard delivers the infrastructure through its Merchant Cloud platform. This setup provides fraud prevention, identity tokenization, and authentication mechanisms required to execute secure, user-authorized automated payments.

“As agentic AI drives a fundamental shift in how consumers shop, Mastercard is committed to providing merchants with a way to build, connect and scale AI-powered shopping experiences – that differentiate for their customers while ensuring they remain in control of their brand and customer engagements. Through our collaboration with Trip.com and Network International, we are showcasing how consumers can transact confidently with new solutions, powering the next era of travel.”

TripGenie AI Capabilities and Features

TripGenie operates as a conversational assistant that processes direct traveler requests. The software handles search queries, compares flight and hotel rates, and finalizes bookings for attractions and ancillary travel services using traveler authorization.

“AI is changing travel from a search experience into a much more intelligent and personalized journey. Together with Mastercard, we are shaping the next generation of AI-powered commerce through Agent Suite for Merchants, exploring how AI agents, operating securely and with the traveler’s authorization, can intelligently facilitate travel-related transactions.”

Rollout Timeline and Industry Impact

The organizations presented the technology as an industry first during the Arabian Travel Market. Consequently, the partners plan a structured testing phase before executing a commercial launch in early 2027 for selected tourism services.

Network International provides the payment acquiring infrastructure across regional markets. Specifically, this payment gateway architecture connects local financial institutions with regional merchants to enable autonomous transactions.

“At Network international we believe agentic commerce will fundamentally reshape how consumers interact with digital services, reducing complexity and enabling more personalized purchasing experiences. As the leading payments enabler across the Middle East and Africa, Network is focused on providing the secure and scalable infrastructure required to support this transformation.”

Payment Infrastructure and Security Framework

The system operates on Mastercard Merchant Cloud, granting travel operators modular access to specialized payment tools. Participating merchants can deploy customizable security layers, tokenization protocols, and authentication tools directly into their digital platforms.

As digital travel booking continues to evolve, this deployment offers a structured blueprint for regional payment providers and financial institutions adopting autonomous commercial software.
