Riyadh — Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) won the “Best Wholesale Company Middle East” award for 2025, marking the second consecutive year the Saudi operator has received this recognition at the Telecom Review Leaders’ Summit held December 11 in Dubai.
The award acknowledges Mobily’s leadership in carrier and operator services across local, regional, and international markets, and its established role as a strategic hub for global interconnectivity in the Middle East telecommunications sector.
Infrastructure Investments Drive Competitive Edge
Mobily’s consecutive wins reflect expanded market presence through partnerships with Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), strategic alliances, and development of advanced infrastructure that strengthened its competitive positioning in the wholesale telecommunications market.
The company operates an extensive digital infrastructure footprint spanning more than 35 major Saudi cities, with fiber optic networks covering approximately 60,000 kilometers of roads and reaching 99% of populated areas across the Kingdom.
Data Center Capacity Expansion Underway
Mobily currently maintains data centers with a combined capacity of 122 megawatts, alongside 12 strategic Points of Presence (PoPs) globally that enhance its international connectivity capabilities.
Eng. Thamer Al-Fada, Senior Vice President of Carrier and Operator Services and Wholesale at Mobily, said: “We are delighted Mobily won this global award, confirming its position as a key player in the digital infrastructure and wholesale sector locally, regionally, and globally.”
He added that the recognition “reflects its outstanding capabilities in providing services to high-performance enterprises, operators, data centers, cloud service providers, internet exchanges, and content providers.”
Continued Investment in Digital Connectivity
Al-Fada emphasized Mobily’s commitment as a leading driver of innovation and digital connectivity through continued infrastructure development investments, including expanding data center capacity to enhance service reliability and respond to growing customer demand.
Investment priorities include developing submarine cable networks and landing stations to provide more reliable connectivity aligned with increasing traffic volumes, addressing rising demand for internet services domestically and internationally.
Alignment with Vision 2030 Digital Objectives
The company’s new strategy, launched during its 20th anniversary celebrations, supports increased operational efficiency and an active contribution to economic development through digital economy acceleration in the Kingdom.
This direction aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives positioning the Kingdom as a global digital hub connecting East and West, leveraging its strategic geographic location between three continents.
Mobily’s infrastructure investments focus on expanding its network of submarine cables and landing stations linking multiple regions worldwide, reinforcing its international capabilities in a competitive regional market that includes other major carriers serving Middle Eastern and North African markets.
Industry Context
The Telecom Review Leaders’ Summit, held under the theme “Intelligent Era to the Extreme,” brought together telecommunications sector leaders and entrepreneurs to address key issues shaping the ICT industry through specialized dialogue sessions.
The back-to-back award recognition provides regional and international validation of Mobily’s accelerated initiatives to strengthen its role as a pivotal player in Middle East digital infrastructure, within a competitive market including established regional telecommunications operators.
