Toyota has introduced the Toyota RAV4 PHEV to the Middle East, marking the brand’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle in the regional lineup. The release expands the powertrain choices available within the sixth-generation model line across regional markets.

The vehicle features a newly developed plug-in hybrid system that pairs a high-capacity drive battery with a high-output charger. Silicon carbide power semiconductors on the front axle reduce energy loss, delivering an electric-only driving range of approximately 169 km in urban areas and 131 km on highways.

Specifications of the Toyota RAV4 PHEV

Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid setup increases motor output by 12 percent compared to standard configurations. Consequently, the vehicle offers faster acceleration while maintaining off-road capability in varied driving conditions in the automotive sector.

The exterior adopts Toyota’s Core style, which incorporates a hammerhead front design, integrated bumper, and a three-dimensional grille. In addition, buyers can select 20-inch alloy wheels that complement the wide stance and elevated ground clearance.

Cabin Architecture and Practical Storage

Inside, the cabin utilizes an island architecture layout to group controls logically and minimize driver distraction. The upper instrument panel sits 40 mm lower than the previous generation to enhance forward road visibility.

Shift-by-wire controls, the electronic parking brake, and brake hold functions are positioned together for direct access. Luggage capacity expands to 749 liters, while the folding rear seatbacks create a flat cargo floor for bulky items.

Integration of the Arene Software Platform

The model marks Toyota’s first vehicle deployment of Arene, the software development platform created by Woven by Toyota. This software architecture accelerates component evaluation and simplifies regular digital updates over time.

Drivers interact with either a 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch multimedia display alongside a 12.3-inch combination meter. The system provides custom home screens and faster voice recognition for climate and navigation functions.

Active Driver Assistance Technologies

Toyota Safety Sense incorporates improved radar and camera sensors to detect road hazards more effectively. The pre-collision system detects deceleration by leading vehicles and identifies cross traffic entering intersections earlier.

Meanwhile, the dynamic radar cruise control detects lane merges at close distances, and low-speed acceleration suppression operates during turns. Drivers can also use 3D surround monitors and automated parking tools through integrated smart devices to navigate tight spaces.
