Vodafone Qatar has selected tpay as its Direct Operator Billing aggregator following a competitive request for proposal process. The new agreement expands a business relationship between both companies that originally started in 2018.

Under the terms of the deal, tpay provides the technical connectivity layer for the operator. Merchants and digital service providers seeking to connect to the carrier network can process customer payments directly through mobile balances.

Direct Operator Billing Integration and Reach

Vodafone Qatar reported 2.1 million mobile subscribers at the end of the first half of 2026. This technical integration allows digital merchants to offer Direct Operator Billing options across that entire user base in Qatar.

Consumers can purchase eligible digital products without needing traditional credit cards. Instead, users authorize charges directly to their postpaid bill or prepaid mobile account balance.

Track Record of Digital Launches

The two companies previously worked together on multiple consumer rollouts. Past projects included payment connections for Google Play, Apple App Store, and other digital platforms in the country.

These past projects established the operational framework now used for Direct Operator Billing across the network. Consequently, the new contract formalizes tpay as the carrier’s aggregator for mobile billing connections.

“Over the years, we have built strong trust through the successful delivery of major digital service launches, including Google Play, Apple App Store and others, demonstrating the strength and reliability of tpay’s platform and our ability to deliver at scale.”

Regional Operations and Merchant Access

The agreement supports merchants seeking access to telecom billing systems in the region. According to corporate data, tpay maintains operations in more than 30 countries across the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.

The company maintains connections with more than 1,000 merchants along with nearly 100 network operators and digital wallet providers. Furthermore, the firm has begun expanding its payment connectivity into several Asian markets to link international businesses with regional payment systems.

“The successful launches of services such as Google Play, Apple App Store and others have demonstrated tpay’s strong platform capabilities, operational expertise and ability to support high-quality digital payment experiences at scale.”

Digital Commerce Expansion

Partnerships of this nature continue to shape the regional economy by expanding consumer payment methods. Global digital firms such as Tencent, Huawei, and MBC currently use the provider’s infrastructure for regional transactions.

In addition, simplified carrier checkout paths help merchants lower friction for apps and mobile entertainment purchases across emerging markets.
