Riyadh – September 15, 2025

The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has announced the launch of Google Pay in Saudi Arabia, integrated with the Kingdom’s national payment network mada.

The announcement was made during Money20/20 Middle East, held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in Mulham.

This milestone reflects SAMA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the digital payments ecosystem in line with the objectives of the Financial Sector Development Program, one of the key pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. It also demonstrates the central bank’s commitment to building a robust payments infrastructure that supports the transition to a less cash-dependent society, by enabling advanced digital payment solutions aligned with international standards.

With the new service, users will be able to easily and securely add and manage mada debit cards and digital credit cards through the Google Wallet app. This move is part of SAMA’s strategy to expand the adoption of fintech solutions across smart devices, promote financial inclusion, and encourage innovation in the financial sector to serve consumers through modern payment methods.

The launch of Google Pay is also part of a wider set of initiatives aimed at strengthening Saudi Arabia’s payments infrastructure, meeting the evolving needs of the local market, and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global leader in fintech and digital payment transformation.
