Financial institutions using cloud systems can now deploy cross-border payments through a direct integration announced between Mambu and Mastercard. The collaboration links Mastercard Move with Mambu’s Intelligent Core banking engine. As a result, banks can initiate international transfers without rebuilding underlying software architectures.

Integration Details and Technical Architecture

The pre-built connection brings the payment capabilities of Mastercard Move directly into Mambu’s cloud-native core banking system. Consequently, financial institutions using the platform can reduce setup times and decrease software deployment complexity. The architecture allows firms to incorporate international transfer capabilities directly into consumer mobile interfaces and existing web portals.

In addition, the arrangement follows Mambu’s acquisition of Numeral in 2024, which marked an expansion into payment processing tools. Through this setup, retail banks and regional lenders can update their transaction processing without replacing operational ledgers. The platform was created in 2011 to handle core banking, deposits, lending, and Islamic financial products.

Cross-Border Payments for Global Banking

The technical link simplifies how institutions manage cross-border payments across different jurisdictions. Small and medium enterprises, alongside retail banking clients, increasingly require fast international settlement. Therefore, this shared infrastructure removes technical friction from routine international transactions across participating institutions.

“Adding cross-border payment capabilities shouldn’t require financial institutions to take on years of integration work or rethink their entire tech stack. By integrating Mambu’s Intelligent Core with Mastercard Move, we are giving our customers a simpler way to introduce these capabilities, accelerate time to market and continue building on the investments they’ve already made.”

Fernando Zandona, CEO at Mambu

Network Scale and Infrastructure Capabilities

Mastercard Move provides settlement access across more than 200 countries and territories. Furthermore, the transfer system handles operations across more than 150 currencies, reaching over 17 billion endpoints worldwide. This international network encompasses roughly 95 percent of the global banked population.

Currently, more than 260 institutional clients in over 65 countries operate on Mambu’s software foundation. Organizations using the service include Western Union, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, N26, BancoEstado, Raiffeisen Bank, ABN AMRO, and Bank Islam. Meanwhile, the cloud foundation enables institutions to integrate third-party financial services through modular software connections.

“Despite advances in digital payments, moving money across borders remains complex and fragmented, with people and businesses expecting greater speed, transparency and certainty. Mastercard Move combines global reach with trusted money movement capabilities to help financial institutions meet those expectations.”

Future Operations and Service Deployment

Financial institutions planning modern transaction setups can activate the capability through existing cloud configurations. Notably, this framework allows banks to add cross-border payments to commercial accounts while keeping compliance workflows intact. As digital apps expand globally, the joint software link provides reliable tools for international trade settlements.
