Finnish electronics retailer Gigantti introduced the Grand Game Deal to help households manage console time ahead of major game releases. The initiative offers a written template where family members negotiate dedicated play sessions. Consequently, the agreement aims to prevent domestic friction before heavy gaming schedules begin.
Structure of the Grand Game Deal
Under the Grand Game Deal, players commit to household responsibilities in exchange for uninterrupted gaming sessions. The agreement adapts standard difficulty settings from the gaming industry to set clear expectations. Specifically, each level defines how long a player can use the television without interruption.
The system provides three distinct options for participants depending on their scheduled playtime. For instance, Easy mode grants uninterrupted access during release day, while Normal mode covers the complete launch week. Furthermore, the Hard mode extends coverage across an entire month.
Household Negotiations and Difficulty Modes
Players who choose extended coverage must offer practical compensations in return. These reciprocal gestures include regular domestic chores, dedicated family time, and agreed gifts. Moreover, both parties must sign the document online before displaying the printed version at home.
“When gaming time has been agreed in black and white, the drama stays on the screen instead of spilling into the living room.”
Sami Särkelä, Head of Marketing and Communications at Gigantti
Särkelä stated that the campaign encourages transparent discussions regarding entertainment boundaries in shared living spaces. In addition, the retail group operates within the wider Nordic consumer economy under parent company Elkjøp Nordic.
Details of the Video Game Release
The campaign directly references Grand Theft Auto VI, which arrives on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Rockstar Games, the title serves as the eighth main instalment in the long-running series. Meanwhile, industry analysts note the production budget stands between $1 billion and $2 billion.
The title introduces players to the fictional state of Leonida, where characters Jason and Lucia explore urban environments. As a result of high consumer demand for new smart devices and consoles, retail stores prepare for heavy autumn traffic.
Retailer Incentives and Campaign Terms
Participants who complete the Grand Game Deal receive promotional perks from the retailer. Specifically, Gigantti provides a 10 percent discount code valid for regular gaming merchandise across its stores. Furthermore, signees gain entry into a promotional draw featuring a PS5 Pro console.
The promotional window remains active in Finland from 13 October until 15 November 2026. However, the commercial activity operates independently without direct backing from Take-Two Interactive or Sony Interactive Entertainment.
