Apple iMac With M6 Hero
Apple has introduced the new iMac with M6, delivering updated processing architecture and upgraded artificial intelligence capabilities in its desktop lineup. The hardware update replaces older configurations with redesigned silicon options, starting at SAR 6,999 for retail customers in Saudi Arabia. Pre-orders begin on October 28, with retail store shipments scheduled to arrive on November 6.
Hardware Architecture of the iMac with M6
The central computing core features up to a 12-core CPU, providing two additional cores over the previous generation to accelerate single-threaded execution. Graphics operations rely on an available 12-core GPU equipped with Neural Accelerators inside each graphics core. In addition, internal memory bandwidth expands up to 170GB/s to move information between components rapidly.
On-device machine learning relies on a dual 16-core Neural Engine designed for local computing tasks. The processor configuration inside the iMac with M6 processes prompts in local models like LM Studio up to 5x faster than M4 systems and up to 12x faster than M1 units. This architectural design keeps data processing on the physical machine rather than routing prompts through external servers.
Display Specifications and System Connectivity
The desktop incorporates a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display operating at 500 nits of brightness with P3 wide color coverage. Above the panel, a 12MP Center Stage camera adjusts framing automatically during calls, while Desk View provides an overhead perspective of physical documents. Audio components include a three-microphone array alongside two pairs of force-cancelling woofers and two tweeters supporting Dolby Atmos playback.
External hardware links use Wi-Fi 7 wireless networking, Bluetooth 6 protocols, and optional 2.5Gb Ethernet for wired connections. Apple designed the iMac with M6 to drive up to two external 6K displays through up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports. Solid-state storage modules inside the chassis read and write data at up to double the speed of preceding editions.
Software Integration and Sustainability Targets
The desktop runs macOS 27 Golden Gate, incorporating interface updates to Liquid Glass and refined configuration menus in Settings. Continuity tools link the computer with iPhone hardware, letting owners migrate data, answer communications, and handle mobile screen actions directly from the desktop workstation.
Manufacturing specifications focus on corporate sustainability goals ahead of 2030 targets. The aluminum enclosure stand uses 100 percent recycled metal, while circuit boards include recycled gold plating and tin solder. Apple manufactures the desktop using 40 percent renewable electricity across participating production facilities.
Regional Pricing and Retail Availability
Retail availability begins on Friday, November 6, across Apple Store locations and authorized commercial outlets. The baseline edition with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU carries an entry price of SAR 6,999, reducing to SAR 6,799 through education pricing. Configurations featuring the 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU start at SAR 7,999, or SAR 7,499 for eligible educational buyers.
